Breast Reduction
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure aimed at reducing the size and volume of the breasts by removing excess breast tissue, fat, and skin. This procedure not only helps to achieve a breast size in proportion with the body but also alleviates the physical discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
Reasons for Breast Reduction
Physical Discomfort:
- Large breasts can cause neck, back, and shoulder pain.
- Bra straps can create painful indentations on the shoulders.

Procedure
Anesthesia: General anesthesia is commonly used.
Tissue Removal and Reshaping:
- Excess breast tissue, fat, and skin are removed.
- The remaining tissue is reshaped to create a natural contour.
- The nipple and areola are repositioned to a higher, more youthful position.
- The areola may be reduced in size if necessary.
Closing Incisions:
- Incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical tape.
- Drainage tubes may be placed to remove excess fluid.

Risks
