NCV
NCV stands for Nerve Conduction Velocity or Nerve Conduction Study (NCS), which is a diagnostic test used to evaluate the function, integrity, and speed of electrical impulses traveling along nerves. Here’s an overview of NCV/NCS, including its purpose, procedure, interpretation, and clinical applications:
Procedure for Nerve Conduction Studies:
Electrodes Placement:
- Surface electrodes are placed on the skin over the nerves being tested. One electrode delivers a mild electrical stimulus, while another records the nerve’s response.
Stimulation and Recording:
- A brief electrical pulse is applied to the nerve, causing it to generate an electrical impulse.
- The response is recorded, and the time it takes for the impulse to travel between electrodes is measured (conduction velocity).
Types of Nerve Conduction Tests:
- Motor Nerve Conduction: Evaluates the ability of motor nerves to send electrical impulses to muscles.
- Sensory Nerve Conduction: Assesses the transmission of sensory information (such as touch or temperature sensations) along sensory nerves.
Interpretation of Results:
- NCS results are interpreted based on the amplitude (strength) and speed (velocity) of nerve impulses.
- Abnormal findings, such as prolonged conduction times or reduced amplitudes, may indicate nerve damage or dysfunction.
Benefits of Nerve Conduction Studies:
- Objective Assessment: Provides objective data on nerve function, aiding in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Non-Invasive: Generally safe and well-tolerated, involving minimal discomfort during the test procedure.
- Real-Time Feedback: Allows for immediate feedback during testing, facilitating interpretation and adjustment of testing protocols.

His very soft spoken, he really treats the patients and family well. He understands the problem of patients. Not just treats them but follows up with them. He makes sure he can do his best and provide his best when under his care. He has saved my life. The best doctor I would recommend it any one wants a plastic surgeon
